Loretta MartinLoretta E. Martin, 96, of Rushville died at 3:50 a.m. May 12, 2015, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown.

She was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Green City, Mo., a daughter of Jess Albert and Judith Martin Shaver. She married Kent Martin on Jan. 27, 1940, in Milan, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1990.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Demaree; four brothers, Henry, Fred, Melvin and Clarence Shaver; and seven sisters, Alta Tietz, Velma Roberts, Laura Furrow, Beulah Kauffman, Maude Tuggles, Ruth Shriver and Ruby Hebron.

Surviving are three daughters, Elaine (and Ted) Lefler and Patricia (and Gary) Powell, both of Colchester, and Kim (and Stan) Hoffman of Beardstown; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She worked for different companies before beginning as a dietary aide at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville for 12 years.

She was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4 Auxiliary and First Baptist Church in Blandinsville. She attended First United Methodist Church in Rushville. She volunteered with Schuyler County Senior Center, the RSVP and the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville with Pastor Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Schuyler County Senior Citizens Center or Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown Activity Fund.
