Charles "Boogie" MartindaleCharles Greg “Boogie” Martindale, 65, of Lewistown died at 7:52 a.m. May 21, 2014, at his home after a short illness of pancreatic cancer.

He was born March 3, 1949, in Lewistown, a son of David and Helen Pigg Martindale. He first married Shelia Lyons in 1972 in Smithfield. He later married Patricia “Patti” Shawgo on Feb. 16, 2001, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2011.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Gregory Scott Martindale of Cuba; one daughter, Tracie Bishop-Lowder of Canton; one stepson, Rich (and Robyn) Bainter of Austin, Texas; one stepdaughter, Missi (and Sam) Thomas of Canton; one brother, Jamie (and Jody) Martindale of Havana; two sisters, Marie Jockisch of Smithfield and Tracy Dollins of Vandalia; and a close friend, Dixie Collins.

He was a coal miner for Consolidated Coal Mine Company, and later retired from Fulton County Highway Department.

He was a member of United Mine Workers Association and AFSCME Council 31 Local 1372.

Services were held Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Randy Munson officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield.
