Maycell McCartneyMaycell P. (Fay) McCartney, 56, of Rushville died at 1:55 p.m. Nov. 25, 2012, at her home.

She was born Dec. 24, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter of Raymond and Phyllis (Gleason) Fay. She married Jeffry L. McCartney on Sept. 20, 1996, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marcy (and John) Loper stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and Lindsey (and Daniel) Sabraw stationed at Spangdahlem, Germany; two stepsons, Doug (and Kathy) McCartney of Latham and Andrew McCartney of Beardstown; one stepdaughter, Amy (and Brett) Johnson of Savoy; two sisters, Martha "Marty" (and Ben) Hochstatter of Davenport, Iowa, and Shelly Svoboda of Washington, Iowa; and three grandchildren.

She first worked at automotive parts stores in Beardstown and Rushville. She later served as activity director then social services director at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville. She worked as manager of SAIL until 1997.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Memorials may be made to Maycell McCartney Memorial Fund for various food banks.
