Marion Mitchell

Marion MitchellMarion M. Mitchell, 96, of Ellisville died at 7:20 a.m. Oct. 2, 2011, at Clayberg Nursing Center in Cuba.

He was born June 23, 1915, in rural Ellisville, the son of Matt and Maggie Kuehn Mitchell. He first married Mineola Warden. She preceded him in death. He later married Evelyn Palm on June 14, 1972. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2002.

Surviving are his stepchildren, Harold (and Marilyn) Palm and Gerald (and Patricia) Palm; five step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.

He farmed his whole life.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He also served in various Deerfield Township offices.

He was an active member of Fiatt Independent Christian Church. He served over the years as a Sunday school teacher, church superintendent, deacon, head deacon and wherever he was needed.

He was a member of Fiatt IOOF Lodge 971 for 60 years and Canton Star Encampment Lodge for 55 years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at his church with Reverend Jim Menne officiating. Burial will be in Fiatt Cemetery in rural Fiatt. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is in charge of arrangements.
