She was born June 3, 1952, in Moline, a daughter of Richard E. and Jean Peterson Kommer-Kohls. She married Harley Matheny on March 27, 1997, in Rock Island. He survives.
Also surviving are three stepchildren, Georgia Matheny of Davenport, Iowa, Steve (and Sandy) Matheny of Kansas City, Kan., and Robert (and Paula) Matheny of Oklahoma; two sisters, Cindy (and Rodney) Starbuck of Blandinsville and Michele (and Ray) Gass of Riverdale, Iowa; one brother, Richard (and Dawn) Kommer of Orion; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, LeRoy F. Kohls; one brother; and one sister.
She had been a factory worker and a retail manager at Venture for many years.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Orion.
Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield.
