He was born Oct. 29, 1940, in Beardstown, a son of Pauline Suthred. He married Maizie Sue Merfen on March 26, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Meyer of Rushville and Nick Meyer of Lebanon, Mo.; four daughters, Jodi L. (and Kevin) Upchurch and Peggy L. (and William) Gabbert, both of Beardstown, Kimberly J. (and William) Blackwell of Decatur and Janet S. Smith of Roseville; one sister, Gloria “Babe” Roegge of Beardstown; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ronnie and Dale Meyer; and two sisters, Royna Stambaugh and Marilyn Brown.
He worked for Logsdon Tug Service and Continental Grain Co. both of Beardstown before retiring due to an industrial accident at work.
He was an honorary member of Beardstown VFW.
Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Fred Fritz officiating. Burial was in Beardstown City Cemetery.
