Lyle MurfinLyle E. Murfin, 83, of Danville, formerly of Rushville, died at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009, at VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville.

He was born July 27, 1926, in Rushville, a son of George Benny and Eleanor LaMaster Murfin. He married Ruth France on Feb. 24, 1955, in Macomb. They later divorced. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (and Garry) Bernero of El Paso, Texas, and Jaci (and Gale) Vaughn of Jacksonville; one son, Kyle Murfin of Las Cruces, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Murfin and Wilson Murfin.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church.

Cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at his church with Rev. Rose Ross officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with military honors by U.S. Army Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
