Thomas MayThomas Allen May, 78, of Lewistown died at 6:39 a.m. Sept. 11, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 14, 1930, in Lewistown, a son of Don V. and Jessie M. Hughes May. He married Jo Ann West on April 29, 1950, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Michael (and Natividad) May of Silver City, N.M., Kenneth (and Debby) May of Troy and Dr. Keith (and Mary) May of Destin, Fla.; one daughter, Jonelle (and Jim Schauble) Montgomery of Macomb; one brother, Frank (and Sandra) May of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Nina (and Gilbert) Stutes of Lewistown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown.

He was a retired building contractor. He also worked for five years as a master craftsman at Silver Dollar City, and also worked for a year as a camp ranger at Ingersol Scout Ranch.

He was active for many years with Boy Scouts of America, and had served as assistant scoutmaster, a past district commissioner and past district chairman for Boy Scouts.

In 1970, he was awarded the Silver Beaver, and appointed district chairman emeritus in 1978.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial services were held Saturday with Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Inurnment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Tom May Summer Boy Scout Fund in care of Farmers State Bank of Fulton County.
