James McPeak

James E. McPeak, 76, of Blandinsville died at 3 p.m. April 30, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House of Burlington, Iowa.

He was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Oquawka, a son of Earl and Rose Sly McPeak. He married Donna F. Siler on Aug. 15, 1949, in Palmyra, Mo. She died June 26, 1995.

Surviving are one son, James (and Linda) McPeak of Blandinsville; three daughters, Patty (and Russell) Oliver and Penny (and Tom) McCabe, both of Blandinsville and Peggy (and Jerry) Shutwell of Biggsville; two sisters, Dorothy Wisslead of LaHarpe and Donna Jean Owsley of St. James, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth (and Joyce) McPeak and Jerry Shoemate, both of Blandinsville; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He lived in Blandinsville since 1951. He worked for Burlington Ordinance Plant for 19 years, and as a self-employed contractor.

Services were held Saturday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville with Rev. A. Lee Unger officiating. Burial was in Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville.
