George D. Morgan, 86, of Lewistown died at 5:45 p.m April 3, 2007, at his home.

He was born March 7, 1921, in Putman Township, Fulton County, a son of Mearl and Ina Graham Morgan. He married Marguerite Grogan on Feb. 3, 1946, in Blackstone, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Morgan of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Ellen Morgan at home; three sons, Jim (and Debi) of Havana, Joe (and Patty) of Petersburg and Jeff (and Lori) of Port Byron; one sister, Ruth Simpson; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Donald; two brothers; and four sisters.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1942-1946.

He graduated from Cuba High School. He worked 36 years at Caterpillar Inc. East Peoria plant, retiring April 1, 1986. He also worked as a substitute rural mail carrier before retiring June 1, 1991.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Bill Bunnage officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
