ROBERTA ILENE (CROXTON) PATTON MARQUIS

Roberta Ilene Marquis, 75, of Rushville died at 6:30 a.m. March 31, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Beardstown, a daughter of the late William “Cotton” and Annabelle Campbell Croxton. She married Albert Joe Patton on Dec. 17, 1949, in Rushville. He died Sept. 5, 1952. She later married Sgt. Robert L. “Bob” Marquis on April 9, 1953, in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, James David (and Susan) Patton of Normal, John Lee (and Vicky) Marquis of Rushville and Joseph Michael Marquis of Auburn; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Crook and Juanita Peacock; and one brother, James Croxton.

She worked as a nurse at Culbertson Memorial Hospital and the Beardstown Clinic.

Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Dr. Clark Killingsworth officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
