John Markley

John MarkleyJohn Ray Markley, 47, of Pekin, formerly of Cuba, died at 1:28 p.m. Jan. 2, 2007, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1959, in Avon, a son of Robert and Melba Redfern Markley. He married Laura Richardson on Aug. 6, 2006, in Spring, Texas. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Cuba; his maternal grandmother, Ina Ault of Bushnell; two sons, John Michael (and Charline) of Smithfield and Benjamin Ray (and Leora) of Cuba; one stepson, Daniel Claypool; three stepdaughters, Angela Claypool, Alexandra Richardson and Emily Richardson; two brothers, Dan (and Pat) of Cuba and James (and Paula) of Smithfield; six sisters, Ethel (and Russell) Mosher and Brenda Beaty, both of Cuba, Pam (and Jerry) Hedden of Ellisville, Sharon (and James) Trone of Canton, Roberta (and Daryl) Sarff of Havana and Judy English of Bushnell; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and four grandparents.

He was a farmer.

He attended Fiatt Freewill Baptist Church.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. David Carrington officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will be held in Fiatt Cemetery at a later date.
