Howard Marvel

Howard Marvel, 90, of Cuba died at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Fulton County, a son of Harry and Josephine (Keefauver) Marvel. He married Bernice Lundry on Sept. 19, 1936, in Canton. She died Nov. 20, 2004.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy (and Richard) Hollandsworth of Canton and Clarilee Belt of Greenview; three sons, Kenneth (and Leverda) Marvel of Mount Sterling, Bernard (and Carol) Marvel of Browning and Everett Bell of Springfield; one brother, Eldon of Knoxville; one sister, Shirley Eloise Mitchell of Canton; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He worked at International Harvester and later was a self-employed carpenter and mason in the area. He last owned and operated a backhoe and trenching business.

He was a member of the Fiatt Independent Christian Church, where he served as a trustee.

He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau and was active with the Argyle Lake Antique Engine Association. He was a former Boy Scout leader.

Services were held Saturday at Fiatt Independent Christian Church with Rev. Jim Menne officiating. Burial was in Fiatt Cemetery.
