Fern T. Meyers, 79, of Peoria died at 10:06 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Rosewood Care Center.
She was born May 13, 1923, in Minneapolis, a daughter of Charles and Cora Lafary Tanner. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Lena Strouse Tanner.
Surviving are one son, William (and Lee Anne) of Peoria; two sisters, Erma Seward of Portland, Ore., and Lois Wade of Pekin; and two granddaughters.
She had been a welder in the Kaiser shipyard in Portland during World War II.
She was a data processor at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 40 years, retiring in 1988 and was a member of Caterpillar Retirees.
Graveside services were held Monday at Ipava Cemetery in Ipava with Damien Spikereit officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
