Carl E. McMillan, 68, of Cuba died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born June 26, 1933, in Vandalia, a son of Herbert A. and Lois V. Boose McMillan. He married Janet Olson on Dec. 9, 1979, in Cuba. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, James (and Lois) McMillan of Florida, Richard (and Tammy) Olson of St. Louis, Dustin Garren of St. David, and Ricky McMillan and Michael McMillan, both at home; seven daughters, Angela (and Rod) Seward of Lewistown, Rhonda (and Lawrence) Spieth of Olney, Buffy (and Dean) Brooker of Florida, Christy McMillan of New York, Dawn Jackson of Astoria, Dawn (and Roger) Dunham of Peoria and Cindy (and Mike) Brockmeir of Missouri; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Harriet Kenley and Sue (and Gary) Lewis, both of Flora.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He currently was employed as a sergeant for the city of Vermont Police Dept.

He had served as a police officer in various towns since 1975 and as chief of police for nine years for the city of Cuba.

He also had worked at Caterpillar Inc. for a number of years.

He and his wife were foster parents for the past 16 years.

A Korean War Air Force veteran, he was a member of Russell Smith American Legion Post 533.

He was a member of Cuba Lodge 534, AF&AM.

Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Aaron Malusky officiating. Cremation will be accorded following services.

Memorials may be made to an education fund for Ricky and Michael McMillan in care of Mid America National Bank, Cuba Branch.
