William McCubbin

William H. McCubbin, 76, of Washington died at 1:17 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at his daughter’s home in Parachute, Colo.

He was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Hart County, Ky., a son of Arvie J. and Perna C. Tucker McCubbin. He married Wilma L. Bruce on Aug. 4, 1945, in Beason. She died Sept. 4, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Jarrett of Parachute and Pennie Sheets of Astoria; two sisters, Irene Aten of Springfield and Lucille Storey of Youngtown, Ariz.; three brothers, Willis McCubbin of Beardstown, Ralph McCubbin of Pana and Roger McCubbin of Lawrenceville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

He was a former maintenance supervisor for Clinton Schools, Olympia Schools, Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln and Washington Christian Village. He last was maintenance supervisor for Washington School District, retiring Sept. 1, 1997. He was a member of Highview Christian Church in Washington.

Services were held Sunday at his church with Rev. Jon Gillespie officiating. Private graveside services were held Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton. Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the William McCubbin Scholarship Fund at Lincoln Christian College.
