GERTRUDE (GUEST) MUSGROVE

Gertrude Musgrove

Gertrude Guest Musgrove, 92, of Macomb, died at 3:16 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.

She was born Aug. 21, 1905, in Maywood, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Chella Johnson Guest. She married Ranald Musgrove on May 22, 1934. He died Nov. 3, 1981.

Surviving are cousins, Fred and Billie Johnson, Peoria, Victor and Elizabeth Miller, Brimfield, and Dean and Dorothy Allen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one sister-in-law, Marion Musgrove, Everett, Wash.

She studied art at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and specialized in Interior Decoration at Sullins College, Bristol, Va. After graduating from college, Mrs. Musgrove taught kindergarten until her marriage. The Musgroves moved to California in 1941 and built a home in Van Nuys, where they lived until retirement, then returned to the family home in Vermont.

Throughout her life, she maintained a keen interest in art. While living in California, she furthered her studies at Valley Center of Art and workshops with Leon Franks and Grace Harney. After returning to Illinois, she studied watercolor with Love Murray of Peoria and Spoon River College. She was a 67-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Memorial services were held Monday at Kost Memorial Home with Rev. Ron Green officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
