WILMA LAVINA (BRUCE) McCUBBIN

Wilma McCubbin

Wilma Lavina McCubbin, 75, of Washington, Ill., died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Washington Christian Nursing Home in Washington, Ill.

She was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Broadwell, a daughter of E. T. and Lila Shobe Bruce. She married William McCubbin on Aug. 4, 1945, in Beason. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Jarrett of Parachute, Colo. and Pennie Sheets of Astoria; two brothers, Russell Dean Bruce of Lincoln and Earl Edward Bruce of Normal; her twin sister, Hilma McHaney of Washington; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son and one sister.

She was a retired dietary employee at Lincoln Christian Homes and Lincoln Christian College, both in Lincoln. She was instrumental in starting the Waynesville Christian Church. She enjoyed her family, music and reading. She was a member of Highview Christian Church in Washington.

Services were held Monday at her church with Ron Jarrett, Gary W. Sheets, and Derrick Ritchie officiating. Calvert Funeral Homes in Clinton was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Wilma McCubbin Scholarship Fund at Lincoln Christian College.
