Merle M. Munson, 86, of the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, and formerly of Lewistown, died at 4:05 p.m. Wed., Aug. 13, 1997 at the nursing home.
She was born Feb. 19, 1911, at Waterford Twp., Fulton County, a daughter of William D. and Minnie (Dickson) Irwin. She married Ralph M. Munson on April 3, 1937, at Lewistown. He died Feb. 17, 1985. She was also preceded by four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving is one son, Pat J. Munson of Bloomington, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Sid (Jane) Smith of Knoxville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ruby) Hazzard of Lewistown.
She was a member of the Lewistown First Presbyterian Church, of which she had been active in various womens groups and classes of her church. She had also been active in the Presbyterian Womens Quilters group of her church.
Services were held Tuesday at Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown, with Rev. John Pereboom officiating. Burial was in Waterford Cemetery at rural Lewistown.
