Reuben Marquart

Reuben H. Marquart, 75, of Lomira, Wis., died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis.

He was born May 18, 1921, in Lomira, a son of Edwin and Lillie Ott Marquart. He married Donna McCarty on Sept. 16, 1961, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steven Marquart and his wife June of Lomira; one daughter, Alice Marquart of Lomira; one grandchild; five sisters, Arlene Unferth of Campbellsport, Lois Marquart of Ripon, Eunice Frisbie of Lowell, Ruth Panzer of Fon du Lac and Florence Metke of Mayville; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was a graduate of Mayville High School and was a lifelong farmer on the original homestead acquired by his great-grandfather, John Peter Marquart, in 1873 near Knowles. He also was employed as a welder at Maysteel Corp. for 18 years. He was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Lomira and a member of the Knowles Fire Department. He drove a horse-drawn fire wagon in area parades. He also enjoyed participating in various wagon trains throughout the area.

Funeral services were held Friday at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with Rev. Mary Council-Austin officiating. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery in the Town of Lomira.
