Ethel L. Melvin, 88, of Macomb, formerly of Table Grove, LaHarpe and Macomb areas, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1990, at LaHarpe-Davier Care Center of LaHarpe.
She was born July 11, 1902, in Sciota, the daughter of George and Hester Lair Schultz. She married Lyle Melvin on Oct. 7, 1925, in Macomb. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Esther Shoemate of Macomb and Erma Geddes of Mediapolis, Iowa; two sisters, Margaret Butler of Rock Island and Laura Green of Coal Valley; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Virgil, one brother, two sisters and one grandson.
A LaHarpe area resident most of her life, she moved to Table Grove after her husband retired in 1966. In 1987, she moved to Macomb. She was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21, at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Jerry McCune officiating. Burial was in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
