VeteranJohn McGee Dies Tuesday

John W. McGee, 69, of rural Table Grove, died at 7:12 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 1990, at Graham Hospital Extended Care Unit.

He was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Norris, the son of John W. and Sarah Ann Jackson McGee. He married Robertine M. Gilpin on Dec. 27, 1947, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Delbert W. McGee, and one daughter, Marily K. Royal, both of Canton; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Edith Mantonya, Frances Butkovich and Eleanor Robertson, all of Canton, and Marjorie Henry of Deltona, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a trucker for Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1982. He also was a farmer and had worked for the Ohio River Co. He was a World War II Army veteran, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Pierce McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1422 in Bushnell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the Norris United Methodist Church.
