Dayle A. Mathis Dies At Age 75

Dayle A. Mathis, 75, of Fairview died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 1985, in his home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Browning, the son of Oscar and Jennie (Stambaugh) Mathis. He married Irma A. Hollister April 15, 1933, in Macomb. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Gail Mathis of Norris and Marvin Mathis of Pawnee; one sister, Mrs. Eva Green of Galesburg; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He was a mechanic for Midland Electric Coal Co. for 42 years, retiring in November of 1982. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Cuba, where for many years he served on the church board.

He also was a member of the Fairview Fire Department for many years, where he served as fire chief from 1962 to 1975 and was district chief for the Fairview Fire Protection District from 1975 to 1980. Since May 1980 he served as a fire district trustee.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at Cuba Assembly of God Churchwith Rev. Sam Bush and the Rev. L. P. Spratt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
