Herschel C. McKown, 78, of Canton, formerly of Ipava, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, July 25, 1980, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Mr. McKown was born Dec. 31, 1901, in New Boston, Ill., the son of Alexander S. and Sarah Knapp McKown. He married Vivian Smith on Sept. 1, 1923, in Monmouth. She survives.
He was employed by the CB and Q Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1968.
Other survivors are two sons, Don of Boise, Id., and Dwaine of Courtland, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Willis (Roberta) Graham of Canton; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Robert Holler officiating. Entombment was in Ipava Mausoleum.
