Sterling Moak, Former Vermont Principal, Dies

Sterling Moak, 71, of Fallbrook, Calif., former principal and superintendent of Vermont Schools, died on Dec. 21, 1979, in Fallbrook Hospital.

He began his career as an athletic coach in Brimfield and taught there from 1930-37. He was a field representative for the National Youth Administration School and College Work Program in Illinois from 1940-41, and was principal and superintendent of Vermont public schools from 1937-40.

He lived in Palm Springs, Calif., about 30 years, and in Fallbrook since 1977. He was an art instructor at the University of Southern California Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts during the summers of 1957-67. He also taught at the College of the Desert Adult Program from 1965-75.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a son, C. Rodney Boynton of Morton; a daughter, Luann Schirmer of Glendora; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Zella Miles of Santee, and Mary Moak of Groveland.

Services and burial were in California.
