Nellie D. Moose Dies At Age 91

Mrs. Nellie D. Moose, 91, of 1902 17th St., Rock Island, died at 5:40 April 11 after a three year illness.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the Knox-Larson Funeral Home, with George VanZandbergen of the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery.

The former Nellie D. Vance was born Aug. 16, 1878 in Astoria, a daughter of Adam and Elizabeth English Vance. She received her education in the Astoria schools. She had resided in Industry, Sciota and Macomb prior to moving to Rock Island in 1917.

She was married to Noah B. Moose Nov. 8, 1896 in Astoria. He died April 15, 1952.

Mrs. Moose was a registered nurse in state hospitals from 1920 until 1946.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Florine E. Smith, Pekin, and Mrs. George G. Coffield, Rock Island; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry J., San Diego, Calif., and Fred Vance, Frederick.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sons, a sister and a brother.
