Virgil Meyer, 54, Browning Farmer, Dies

Virgil Meyer, 54, of Browning, died suddenly at 11 a.m. Monday in the kitchen of his farm home. His death apparently was due to a heart attack. He reportedly had entered the house after chasing a horse and complained of being ill. A doctor was summoned, but Mr. Meyer collapsed and died before he arrived.

Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Northcutt Funeral Home in Beardstown.

Mr. Meyer was born Feb. 28, 1906 to Harold and Nellie Meyer. His first marriage was to Ethel Orwig. She is deceased. On Sept. 4 of this year he married Mrs. Gertrude Van Meter and they had recently returned home from a wedding trip and were making their home on a farm near Browning.

Surviving in addition to his widow are his mother, Beardstown; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Darr of Pekin, Mrs. Glenna Cox of Browning, and Judy at home; a son Bill Meyer, of Pekin; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Marcella Thomas of Beardstown, Mrs. Dorothy Meyer of Skokie and Mrs. Bernice Lasaeciki of Lansing, Ill.
