State Highway Officer Dies At Beardstown

Walter (Sodie) Mohlman, widely known Beardstown man and a state highway patrolman for several years was found dead in his state highway police department car Tuesday afternoon. The car was parked in the garage at the rear of the Cokely apartments.

Chief of Police Harold Webster was called to the Cokely garage when the body of Mr. Mohlman was found slumped in the front seat of the car. Chief Werster said that Mrs. Cokely found the body.

Mr. Mohlman was dressed in civilian clothes. It was not immediately determined definitely whether death was caused by the fumes from the exhaust of the car.
