Harry E. McLaren, Dies Following Operation, At St. Louis Hospital

Harry E. McLaren, co-publisher of the Rushville Times, died at the Barnes hospital at St. Louis Sunday following an operation for kidney trouble.

Editor McLaren was 68 years old, was a publisher since, at the age of 19, he bought the Astoria Argus. He later sold the plant to Corbin Hagans and founded the Schuyler County Herald in Rushville in 1901. He continued to publish the Herald until 1926, when it was consolidated with the Times and he became a partner of H. F. Dyson. He was well known here and often visited the old home town.

Editor McLaren was born in Astoria. He is survived by his widow, Nora Loring McLaren, and one son, James L. McLaren, editor and publisher of the Jersey County Democrat, Jerseyville, Illinois.

Funeral services were held in the Rushville Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.
