LEWIS MATSON

Lewis Matson

The badly mangled body of Lewis Matson, aged seventy-eight years, living five miles northeast of Galesburg, was found in the barn yard of his home Monday evening of last week after having been gored to death by an enraged bull. No one saw the vicious animal attack the aged man, and it is believed that it was almost a half hour later before the body was found. The body of the aged farmer was badly mangled by the attack of the bull, his chest being caved in and the entire body was caked with blood caused by the numerous scratches and wounds caused by the attack of the animal. It is reported that Matson went to the barn yard about four o’clock to let the animals from the pasture into the barn yard for the night. While he was driving the animals into the yard it is believed the young bull, who had never shown any mad instincts previously, suddenly turned upon the defenseless farmer and gored him to death.
