Aged Resident Answers Summons Funeral Sunday

Granville A. McClung, an aged citizen, died at his home in the southeast part of town Friday, aged 79 years, 10 months and 18 days. He had been failing in health for some time.

Granville A. McClung, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McClung was born in Augusta County, Virginia, Jan. 10, 1854. He was the last of the family of four children to be called in death. When but a babe of less than two years of age he was brought to Illinois where he grew into manhood, spending the remainder of his life in and near Astoria.

He was a hard working man until his physical strength gave way only a few years ago. His early life was spent on the farm but the latter years he spent as a coal miner.

He was united in marriage to Lucy Myers Dec. 1, 1872 and to this union one child was born. Sunday, Nov. 16 the last day of the revival at the U. B. church he walked down the aisle with his companion and publicly confessed Christ as his personal savior and united with the United Brethren church, giving evidence during his few days of sickness that he was trusting in the Lord.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his companion, one daughter, Mrs. Walter S. Price of Omaha, Nebr., one grandson, two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church Sunday at 2:30 p.m., by the pastor Rev. W. R. Seitzinger and interment in the Astoria mausoleum.
