Obituary

IPAVA — Lewis Henry Manhartz was born in York county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 2, 1861 and died at his home in Ipava on South street, January 16, aged 68 years, two months and fourteen days. December 24, 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Rebecca Boyer. Two daughters were born and are, Mrs. Esther Servoss of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Lulu Hickman of Ipava. There are two granddaughters, the Misses Ronda and Susanna Hickman of Ipava. There is also one brother, Jacob Manhartz of Astoria.

Deceased was a faithful member of the Reformed church, a member of the Masonic fraternity and of the Knight Templars of Havana.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian church by Rev. G. H. [film scratched — illegible] who took his text from 2 Timothy 4:7. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” The local Masonic order had charge of the services. Interment in Ipava cemetery.

Brother Dies

Lewis Manhartz passed away at his home in Ipava, Thursday, Jan. 16, following an illness of about nine months of leakage of the heart. He was aged 69 years.

Mr. Manhartz was born in York, Pennsylvania. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Boyer, who preceded him in death several years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lula Hickman of Ipava and Mrs. Esther Ser Voss of Denver, Colorado; also two granddaughters, Misses Susanna and Ronda Hickman, and a brother, Jacob Manhartz of Astoria.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Ipava Presbyterian church. Interment in Ipava cemetery.
