Mrs. Mary E. Mathias, wife of Neil Mathias, died at the family home in Astoria Tuesday at 11:00 o’clock a.m. Death was due to pneumonia. She was aged 74 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Mathias was born in Franklin county, Pa., and was married while a resident of that state to Neil Mathias. To this union three children were born, two daughters and one son. The daughters died in infancy. Their son, John, resides in Woodland township.
Besides her aged husband and son, she leaves to mourn her death one brother, Abe Peterman of Champaign, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Susan Eshelman, Chambersburg, Pa.
The deceased has been a resident of Astoria for the past 47 years and has been a life long member of the U. B. church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at the U. B. church at 1:30 o’clock p.m., conducted by Rev. Ella Niswonger. Burial in the Astoria cemetery.
