NANCY CATHERINE (SHIELDS) MEEK

Mother Dies

Mrs. Nancy Meeks, mother of Mrs. Fred Young, of Astoria, died Sunday morning at the Old Soldiers’ Home, Quincy, where she and her husband went a few days ago for a visit.

Mrs. Young went to Colchester Monday morning where the burial of her mother will take place.

Mr. and Mrs. Meeks formerly made their home at the Soldiers’ Home and had gone there for a brief visit, after which they expected to return to Astoria and make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Young.

Besides her husband, the deceased, who was aged about eighty years, leaves to mourn her death, three daughters, Mrs. Sadie Glenni of California, Mrs. Bertha Seigel, Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Fred Young, Astoria.

[Laura’s note: I believe her married name may have been “Meek”, not “Meeks”, as the obit was published. Her tombstone and other records corroborate this.]
