Matthew McMullen, aged sixty-seven years, died at his home in Norris, Ill., January 24th, 1894.

Mr. McMullen was born in the county of Austrim, Ireland, in the year 1826. He moved to America when eight years of age and settled in New Jersey. After residing there for two years he emigrated to Pennsylvania. In 1846 he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Stewart; to this union five sons and four daughters were born, of whom three sons and four daughters still survive him. He came to Illinois in 1849, in which state he resided until his death. He lived in Astoria many years prior to moving to Norris, and will be remembered by our citizens as Father McMullen. He was a good, generous man, respected by his neighbors and loved by his friends and family.

The funeral occured Thursday, January 25th, and the remains were brought from Norris to Astoria for interment.
