William Henry “Bill” Long, 61, of Vermont, Ill., died Feb. 4, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Hospital in Cookeville, Tenn.
He was born Feb. 23, 1963, in Beardstown, a son of Henry L. and Rose M. Lear Long. They preceded him in death.
He married Sandra J. Davison Long on Oct. 12, 1991. She survives.
Also surviving are eight children, Karen (and Brian) Schoenfeld of Beloit, Wis., Amanda (and Benjamin) Williams and Teresa (and Jason) Yerbic, both of Canton, William “Will” (and Patricia) Long of Williamstown, Miss., Rebekah Davis and Kevin Davis, both of Vermont, Steven (and Tricia) Long of Peoria and Kristyn (and Hunter) Todd of Cookeville, Tenn; two brothers, Richard Long of Pekin and Micheal Long of Washington; one sister, Melissa Long of Cuba; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He received his GED from Spoon River College in 1987. He was the owner of Longs Home Repair and Remodeling for 35 years. He was an original house flipper and owned multiple rental properties around Fulton County. He left life as he lived it giving to those in need, donating multiple organs to those in need, and to further research.
He chose cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 19, at The Old Methodist Church, 104 1st Street South, Vermont, IL 61484.Crest Lawn Funeral-Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to aid in Bill’s funeral and medical expenses.
