Dale Lascelles

Dale LascellesDale Lee Lascelles, 82, of Ipava died Dec. 2, 2022, at his home on the farm.

He was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Peoria, a son of Charles and Ruby Schmidt Lascelles. He married Addie Slater on June 12, 1962, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Jeanette (and Ernest Chabot) Coyle of Tennessee, and Cindy (and Mike) Chaffin, James (and Kelly) Lascelles and Charles (and Anne) Lascelles, all of Ipava; four brothers, Kenneth (and Peggy) Lascelles of Ipava, Richard (and Maureen) Lascelles of Litchfield, N.H.; Ray Lascelles of Colo., and Steve (and Donna) Lascelles of Dewey, Ariz; one sister, Amy (and Tim) Fanter of Havana; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmom, Dorothy Lascelles; and grandparents, Louis and Addie Schmidt and Frank and Louise Lascelles.

He was a 1958 graduate of Easton High School. He was a lifelong farmer in Fulton and Mason County. He worked at International Harvester in Canton, and served as Pleasant Township Supervisor.

He was a member of 4-H and FFA. He served on the Ipava Ballpark Board, was a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau and served on the VIT School Board.

He was a hunter and trap shooter. He won numerous shoots and awards for his accuracy shooting.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Berean Christian Church in Ipava with Pastor Doug Gorman officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the Ipava Cemetery. Bring a baseball, softball, football or basketball to the service. The balls will be donated to local sports programs. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
