E. Hildegarde Leerhoff

E. Hildegarde LeerhoffE. Hildegarde Leerhoff, 95, of Quincy, formerly of Mendon, died at 8:56 a.m. May 14, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born March 28, 1927, in Houston Township, Adams County, a daughter of Henry W. and Cornelia Aden Schuster. She married Glen A. Leerhoff on April 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2021.

She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel Cannell; two brothers, William and Harold Schuster; and two sisters, Louise Roman and Bernice Johnston.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Kay (and John) Chenoweth of Table Grove and JoAnn Cannell (and Dan) Peters of Quincy; two sisters, Marilyn Flesner of Golden and Esther Huffendick (and Bob) of Quincy; three grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Quincy Business College. She worked at Moormans, Montgomery Ward and JC Penny in Quincy. She started at K-Mart when they opened their store in Quincy and worked in the fabric department until she retired in 1990.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point with Rev. Tom Graves officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Golden. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Quincy Humane Society.
