MYRA E. (PENCE) LANCASTER

Myra Lancaster

Myra E. Lancaster (Pence), 64, of Jacksonville, formerly of Industry, died at 6:15 p.m. April 22, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Nov. 16, 1949, in Monmouth, a daughter of Lloyd and Carol Flood Pence. They preceded her in death. She married Ronald Lancaster on Dec. 26, 1982, in Browning. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Kenton (and Tabitha) Lancaster of Henderson, Tenn., and Lewis (and Cassandra) Lancaster of Chicago; and eight siblings, Charlotte (and Henry) Rogers, David (and Linda) Pence and Claire Pence, all of Oregon, Karen Pence of New York, Steven Pence of California, Ann (and Bill) Wells of Kentucky, Dan Pence of Texas and twin sister Maida Pence of Peoria.

She graduated from Yorkwood High School and received a degree in nursing from Illinois Central College.

She spent her professional career caring for those in need at nursing homes and hospitals around West Central Illinois. After she retired, she provided private in-home healthcare to multiple families.

She taught Sunday school at Church of Christ and helped the Jacksonville community by providing meals at the homeless shelter.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Services were held Saturday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Brother Wil Perkins officiating. A private graveside inurnment will be held at a later date at Chockley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her memory.
