Harriet LemonHarriet J. Lemon, 89, of Cuba died at 6:14 p.m. Nov. 26, 2011, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba where she was a resident.

She was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Gillette, Wyo., a daughter of Leo C. and Helen Donaldson Clayberg. She married Gerald B. Lemon on July 3, 1948, in Cuba. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1988.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Jo Lemon; one daughter, Lisa Swengel; and one sister, Mary Helen Lupien.

Surviving is one sister, Vera Krohe of Cuba.

She graduated from Cuba High School and then from Illinois Wesleyan University at Bloomington. She was a musician playing the piano and organ. She also was a piano teacher and choir director.

She was a traveling music teacher teaching at schools throughout Fulton County.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bradley; Cuba American Legion Auxiliary; American Guild of Organists; and PTA organization where she held several offices.

While in college, she was a member of SIGMA ALPHA IOTA. She donated hours at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee and at Manteno Veterans Home.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Reverend Paul Newhall officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
