Beryl LisenbeeBeryl A. Lisenbee, 83, of Rushville died at 10:50 a.m. July 18, 2011, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Granite City, a son of Ebert and Hazel Chambers Lisenbee. He married Barbara E. McDaniel on Sept. 5, 1953, in Jacksonville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara (and Steven) Chase of Tulsa, Okla., Ramona (and John) Crouch of Plano, Texas, and Laurie Beth (and Len) Saluga of Loreto, Tenn.; two brothers, Jasper L. Lisenbee Sr. and Robert E. Lisenbee of Jacksonville; six sisters, Joyce (and John) Lash of Greenview, Anna Leake of Jacksonville, M. June Jackson of Rushville, Cheryl (and Sam) Hannah of Lincoln, Lila Lisenbee of Rochelle and Linda (and Richard) Jackson of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Leslie Lisenbee; and three sisters, Lola, Leonora and Darlene Lisenbee.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Army Airborne Reserves from 1953 to 1967.

He worked for CB&Q/Burlington Northern Railroad as a switchman and brakeman for 38 years retiring in 1990.

He belonged to American Legion and 187 Airborne Rakkasans.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Burial will be in Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville with military services by U.S. Army Honors Detail and Jacksonville Combined Veterans Ceremonial Team. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
