Gail LancasterGail E. (Shanty) Lancaster, 54, of Ipava, formerly of Mt. Sterling, died at 5:45 a.m. March 17, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Clayton.

She was born July 17, 1956, in Schenectady, N.Y., a daughter of Clarence and Patricia Endries Shanty.

Surviving are three daughters, Melissa (and Ernie) Barclay of Ipava, Diana (and Steven) Lord of Clayton and Christal (and Adam) York of Quincy; her mother, Patricia Shanty of Mount Sterling; two brothers, Bob (and Pam) Shanty of Colchester and Dick Shanty of Texas; four sisters, Kathy (and Vince) Feigl of Rushville, Mary Crater of Macomb and Nancy (and Steve) Wort and Marcia Shanty, both of Mount Sterling; and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She attended Brown County High School and John Wood Community College, receiving her licensed practical nursing degree in 1980. She worked as an LPN for over 31 years, specializing in geriatric care at various healthcare facilities in the area, last working at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements. There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded.
