Louise LaFary

Louise LaFaryLouise B. LaFary, 95, of Lewistown died Sept. 19, 2010, at her daughter’s home in South Charleston, Ohio.

She was born May 2, 1915, in Bernadotte, a daughter of Jesse A. and Bertha M. White Chambers. She married Howard LaFary on Nov. 11, 1933, in Bernadotte. He died Dec. 14, 1989.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Keith LaFary; one brother; and three great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Norman (and Peggy) LaFary of Green Valley and Jack (and Linda) LaFary of Macomb; one daughter, Joan (and John) Miller, with whom she made her home, of South Charleston, Ohio; one brother, Jute Chambers of Lewistown; one sister, Ruby (and Lloyd) Dean of rural Havana; and 54 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She owned and operated a restaurant in Bernadotte and had been a caretaker for Judge Barnes in Havana.

She was a member of Crossroads Free Methodist Church in Lewistown and attended Plattsburg United Church of Christ. She was involved in Bible study and missionary work at both churches.

Services were held Saturday at Crossroads Free Methodist Church with Reverend Martin Janicke officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
