She was born Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1922, in Browning, the daughter of Silas and Lillian Harris Trone. She married Fairl A. “Screwy” Lane on June 9, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1991.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Lane; one granddaughter, Stacey Lane; and three brothers, Robert, Melvin and Orville Trone.
Surviving are one son, Robert (and Norma) Lane of Browning; one daughter, Evelyn Lane of Beardstown; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She worked at various jobs during her younger years. She cleaned ducks and geese for local hunters, worked at Browning Service Station and cooked at various restaurants.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mrs. Martha Layne speaking. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services on Wednesday.
