Ruth LickeyRuth I. Lickey, 96, of Littleton died at 7:49 p.m. Dec. 26, 2009, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Thomas and Julia Auglur Loring. She married Caleb Wilson Lickey on Sept. 13, 1929, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Vernon Lickey; one daughter, Mary Cox; two brothers, Jim Loring and Wade Loring; and two sisters, Nellie Roof and Addie Bidwell.

Surviving are one daughter-in-law Peggy Lickey of Brooklyn; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She helped her husband on the family farm, and for over 50 years was a wallpaper hanger, retiring in 1985.

She attended Brooklyn United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women’s Group.

She was a member of LaMoine Trails Saddle Club, Macomb Saddle Club and Augusta Saddle Club.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery near Littleton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to her church or Littleton Fire Department.
