Robert E. Leib, 93, of Valparaiso, Ind., died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Canterbury Place.
He was born April 7, 1911, in Astoria, a son of Jacob and Nellie Haffner Leib. He married Hildreth Illman on Nov. 24, 1932, in Rushville. She died June 3, 1989. He later married Ruth Newell. She died in 1995.
He also was preceded in death by one son, James; one brother, William; and one sister, Margaret.
Surviving are one son, Richard (and Judy) of Highland, Ind.; one brother, Charles (and Linda) of Astoria; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute.
He served full-time as a Baptist minister from 1932 to 1972, retiring from First Baptist Church of Valparaiso. He then continued his ministry part-time, conducting services for countless nursing home residents for many years.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Eddy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
