VeteranPerry Lotz

Perry L. Lotz, 68, of Colchester died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 8, 1934, in Carlinville, a son of Charlie and Bessie Jane Martin Lotz. He married Edna Robinson in 1955 in Macomb. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas (and Sandra) of Lynchburg, Va., Dean of Freeport and Scott of Davenport, Iowa; one daughter, Lucinda (and Bill) Lenger of Coal Valley; five brothers, Martin (and Mary) of Vermont, Melvin (and Shirley) of LaHarpe, Harry (and Rose) of Blandinsville, Bob (and Rachel) of Kenosha, Wis., and Charlie (and Barbara) of Surprise, Ariz; one sister, Audrey Clark of LaHarpe; and six grandchildren.

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

He had taught in Cornell for one year and in Aledo for 13 years. He later was principal at Beardstown Grade School for six years and at Colchester Grade School Unit 180 for 14 years.

He was a member of the Illinois Principals Association, the Illinois Administrators Round Table and McDonough County Retired Teachers Association.

He also was a member of Colchester Lions Club, Aledo Masonic Lodge and Moline Scottish Rite.

Services were held Tuesday at Jones Mortuary with Rev. Dean Reeverts officiating. Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to West Prairie Grade School.
