Russell Lawver

Russell L. Lawver, 86, of Danville Care Center in Danville, formerly of Cuba and Astoria, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

He was born April 29, 1915, in Canton, a son of Carl and Dorothy Pratt Lawver. He married Audrey Farris on April 9, 1944, at Lewistown.

Surviving is one son, Van (and Donna) Lawver of Danville; one daughter, Valarie Shelton of Ridge Farm; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one brother, Gene (and Shirley) Lawver of Canton.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He retired from United Electric Coal Company, where he had worked as a coal miner for many years.

He was a member of UMWA and an honorary member of the Astoria American Legion Post 25.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Cliff Parry officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Astoria Manor.
