Elmer H. Lawson, 72, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997.

He was born Dec. 26, 1924 in Wolfe County, Ky., a son of James Monroe and Candis (Bowman) Lawson.

Survivors include one son, James Lawson of Rio Del, Calif.; three daughters, Jan Crider of San Antonio, Texas, Jean Benson of Eton, Ga., and Ann Marie Whitney of Bedford, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carmie Lawson of Pekin and Alma Bair of Canton; several nephews and nieces; and one special aunt, Nancy Bair of Franklin, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked in the shipyards and logging business.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held Sunday, Sept. 14, at Vermont Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.
