Franklyn Long Dies at Age 86

B. Franklyn Long, 86, of 126 E. Madison St., Rushville, died at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 1990, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Aug. 24, 1903, in Rushville, a son of William S. and Vira B. Bader Long. He married Helen Greer on June 8, 1929, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Martin of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Jack of Rushville; two daughters, Nancy Ehlers of Milwaukee and Jeanette Duncan of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a farmer, a harness horse breeder and a surveyor for the Illinois Department of Waterways before he retired. He was a member of Rushville Lodge 9, AF&AM and served on the Schuyler County Fair Board for 25 years.

He also was a member of the board of directors of the Midwest Racing Association and a past member of the Vermont Kiwanis.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Rushville where services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Michael Fitch officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
